The Race Around the World

The other night for FHE we played a game that May and Jack created. It was actually really fun! You had a sailboat made out of a toothpick stuck into an eraser with a little piece of paper for the sail, that you had to move around the board. Whoever got around twice first won the game. Of course in the game you had set backs and stuff that happened to you like being eaten by a shark or your ship sinking. It was very fun AND creative! After we played the game Tom gave a spiritual thought, then he gave each of them a little card to mark off there articles of faith as they learn them. So they have already learned some, mainly from songs they sing in primary, so they passed off a few right away. Good Job. Then, they wanted to pass more off, so they quickly started memorizing them just long enough to tell Tom so they could put a sticker on that article of faith to pass it off. Well, it got to the point that they were getting them mostly but not word for word so we would say, "close, but not quite". Then they started to say the articles of faith in the meanest voices because they were mad we were not letting them get by with being "close". So then Tom starts laughing at May because what started out as something fun to work on little by little over time, turned in to them getting mad about not getting them 100% correct right then. Tom and I looked at each other kind of puzzled and then just laughed. That's all we could do. Maybe next time will go better! We tried.
